Internet Connectivity Rants
I'm going to rant about having cable internet connection for a minute. Why is service so darn slow? I know that it can't always be 100% up all the time, but when I want it, it better work! What the heck is the "server too busy" crap all about? I love technology, but I can't stand it when I have to wait! I should be able to run five consecutive searches at the same time, listen to music, read my e-mail, and chat online without any interruption. Is that so difficult? No wonder I smoke and drink too much...waiting for the damn page to load up. Ever try having Photoshop open with all this crap open at the same time? Good luck! Well, that's all I have to say about that, I feel better.

Mekong Whiskey Revisited
Ah, so my shipment of Mekong whiskey arrived yesterday, securely wrapped in a neatly taped box. I quickly, but cautiously opened it with anticipation. Woo-hoo, it was worth the wait. I opened the bottle, slowly poured a shot glass full, and replaced the cap on the bottle. As I tipped the cup I was immediately engulfed with the strong smell, then immediately took my first sip. Now, I know this isn't a $500 bottle of whiskey, but damn, it really is good. Anyway, nothing much more interesting to say...

Lessons of the Lotus by Bhante Y. Wimala
From the Lessons of Lotus, Bhante Y. Wimala:
Reflection: have a friend read this to you, or tape it and play it back, or simply read through it first and then practice:
Close your eyes and relax. Picture your parents. Try to remember how they might have taken care of you when you were a helpless little child, how much trouble they might have gone through to feed you and clothe you, také care of your needs, and love you. Remember that they are your origin, your flesh and blood, your beginning and roots.
Now, move your thoughts to yourself as you are today. You may be stronger, richer, or more educated than they. See wherther your ego is creating a barrier between you and your parents that keeps your from connectiong with them.
Remember how from infancy to the time you left home to be on your own, they were always with you. Recall the good times, such as the times they held you and listened to your hurts and fears, the times they fed you, told you stories, laughed with you, and put you to bed, the times they encouradged you, inspired you, and provided guidance. In your mind, thank your parents and with them well.
Now recall some of the times that you think were not so pleasant, the days you needed them and they were not there, the times there was lack of understanding and you felt hurt. Now, from your mature vantage point, try to recognize that all human beings, including your parents, have shortcomings and are entitled to make mistakes, like you. Try to forgive them for their scortcomings and mistakes. Think of your parents not just for their virtues or just for their shortcomings, but as human beings with an entitled mix or the two. Think of them as two beings who, mostly unknown to you, struggled agaisnt many hardships and hostile forces to ensure your survival. Thank them, therefor, for your survival.
Finally, say in your mind, "May peace be mine. May peace be with my parents. May peace be with all beings." Také a few deep breaths. Relax with your eyes closed for a few more minutes, and when you feel like it, open your eyes.

George Carlin
As I was driving down I-5, I had thoughts of work on my mind. I was trying to forget all about it when I passed through Mission Beach. The salty air engulfed my senses. I know this smell, I was near the beach and as I typically do, I glance over to the right and see all kinds of people walking along the beach happily playing and enjoying the southern California weather. How could they be so lucky! It would be nice to just walk along the beach during the week day enjoying the sun, relaxing with a good book and some ice tea. Everytime I get near this part of I-5, I roll down my windows so I can have a little sense of the beach and the relaxing affect it has on a person. It's geat how one sense can bring so many good thoughts and feelings just by, for me, smelling the salty air.
Anyway, as I was saying, I was driving downtown and decided to stopy by the local pub for a few drinks. As I walked in, I quickly scanned the bar and found an empty table. It would be 15 minutes later when the waitress arrived to take my order. This is typical, walk into this bar and get shitty service. I chatted with a friend for a few minutes and quickly gulped down my vodka cran. We all chatted about work crap and then headed out as we had to meet with six other people for a night of George Carlin at Humphrey's by the Bay. This would be my third concert and it was good, as I expected. Also, as expected, he repeated some of his famous jokes but, most of his new shit was very funny. I suppose if I had a good buz going I'd probably find him a lot funnier. The one thing I don't like about this venue is the seating is arranged so tightly that you're practically sitting on your neighbor's lap. If you're sitting in the middle of the row, trying to get out you'll find your ass in someone's face or your boobs in someone's face, that's how tight the seats are arranged. My first attempt to get out of the row, I accidentially rubbed my boobs on some bald guy's head. His woman friend didn't find that too funny. Ha, ha, I found that pretty entertaining.
My take on the night, besides the sardine packed seating arrangement, was pretty good. Good comedy by a great entertainer, and the evening stars near neatly docked boats, cool water breezes, and a good group of friends. |

Geeks
I can't say that I'm an internet geek, eh, I guess I may be a bit. I'd like to think I know enough about technology to get myself in trouble. I can't say I'm a true code geek, but I do love to talk techie...wanna blog with me? I was a geek, but now I'm a project manager...woo hoo, that's cool! I'm just a glorified paper pusher, arg! I wish at times I was still a lowly coder listening to heavy metal zoned out in my own little world while creating application masterpieces for clients who will never understand the complex logic required for their particular "custom" application. "Can't you jut cut and paste that...but it looks so easy...why does it take soooo long...blah, blah, blah! Coders are like builders without the construction hats. Most take pride in what they build, other don't give a fuck and just want a paycheck. I must say that I love a geek who can talk the talk and code like a mother fucker. Geeks teach me about new technologies and better, more robust coding technologies. More power to the geeks of the world, my hats off to you...blog on...and safe hex, select * from clients where IQ > 0, return 0 records...ha, ha....want more funny crap...stole it from http://www.thinkgeek.com!

Mekong Whiskey
Ever had whiskey face? Try sipping whiskey for the very first time and you'll find your face contorting in ways that would put the Elephant Man to shame. I was introduce to Whiskey by some friends who have a weakness for Irish Whiskey and any hard liquor they can get their hands on, with the exception of tequila. My first swig of Irish Tuly was so bad I found it really tough to swallow, kinda like jiz juice the first time, JOKING. The aroma was so strong I thought I was going to pass out. I must say, after my first taste, I had to mix it with soda water and plenty of ice cubes. After mixing Tuly and soda I became an instant fan.
I had my first taste of Thai Mekong Whiskey and damn, it sure tasted really good. I swirled it around as if it were a fine glass of wine, inhaled the aroma, and allowed the sweet taste to glide down my throat. I instantly became warm as the stream of whiskey coated my throat. I felt a wave of heat pass throughout my body. It was mildly orgasmic and I became immediately excited as my body rode the wave that overcame me.
After franticly searching the internet for Mekong whiskey, I found nothing but dead ends. After walking into my local store, I found that Mekong whiskey is not available for sale in the US (I was very disappointed). So I searched for distributors and found an internet site http://www.cultdrinks.co.uk/ which sells all kinds of spirits. Ah hah, I found a way to get this whiskey! It is pretty costly, but fuck it, money is meant to be spent, so I ordered two bottles. If you want to try this whiskey, visit this site and buy yourself a bottle. Just promise me you'll listen to either Buddha Bar V, track 6, or some cool jazz while sipping this very smooth and orgasmic whiskey. |
